New Resources for Students and Teachers in Secondary Schools

The Purdue OWL is pleased to annouce the expansion of the section of the OWL dedicated to writers and teachers in grades 7-12. These new resources focus on pre-writing and were written specifically for this audience. Current resources include an introduction to pre-writing, as well as strategies for invention in creatinve and research writing. Finally, the new resources also discuss what to do when you hit a block.

We plan on expanding this section further in the near future with sample invention activities and PowerPoint decks for teachers. 

We would like to thank content developer Lauren Huebsch for her hard work in developing this content.  


OWL@Purdue YouTube Channel: Video Résumés

The Purdue OWL is pleased to annouce the launch of our latest vidcast, the Video Résumés vidcast. In this vidcast, viewers are introduced to video résumés and special considerations regarding their creation, content, and distribution. To view this vidcast, click here

New L2 Writing Summary and Paraphrase Exercise - Intermediate Proficiency Level

New Vidcasts on the OWL@Purdue YouTube Channel

The Purdue OWL is pleased to announce the launch of three new vidcasts on our OWL@Purdue YouTube Channel: APA Formatting: References Lists: Complex AuthorsAPA Formatting: References List: Books, and APA Formatting: References List: Periodicals.These vidcasts are the latest entries in our second language writing resources and our APA style resources. 

We would like to thank content developers David O'Neil and Yushan Wei. We would also like to thank Dr. Margie Berns for taking part in the collaboration that led to these resources being created. 


Graduate Writing Workshop-in-a-box

We are pleased to announce the launch of a bank of new teacher resource—the Graduate Writing Workshop-in-a-box resources. These resources are designed to be used as a guide to holding writing workshops for graduate students. The current set of resources focuses on organziation, style, introductions, literature reviews, and editing and proofreading. Additional resources may be added to this resource in the future. New Purdue OWL Vidcast

The Purdue OWL is pleased to announce that a new vidcast has gone live on the OWL@Purdue YouTube Channel. The vidcast, entitled "Purdue OWL 20th Anniversary Vidcast: Full Version" is available here, and it features former director Muriel Harris, late director Linda Bergmann, associate director Tammy Conard-Salvo, OWL coordinator Joshua M. Paiz, OWL technical coordinator Caitlan Spronk, and OWL content developer Gracemarie Mike. This vidcast looks back on the past 20 years of the Purdue OWL before looking forward at possible futures.

ECWCA 2014

The Purdue Writing Lab and the Purdue OWL will be well represented at this year's East-Central Writing Centers Association's conference. Eight members of the Writing Lab/OWL staff will travel to Miami Ohio to participate in this years conference.

This year's ECWCA will be hosted by Miami University in Oxford, Ohio on March 28 and 29, 2013


A New OWL Logo

The Purdue OWL is pleased to announce the roll-out of our new 20th Anniversary Logo. This logo is based on a design created in Mr. Don Unger's ENGL 309: Digital Publishing Course. We would like to thank the student design-team that created the base of this logo: Craig Cainkar, Jessica Schwingendorf, Natalie Merced and Steven Thornton. 

We will be using this logo on all main OWL pages. The original OWL logo will remain in use on our engagement, research, Purdue OWL news, and contact pages.
