Consultants will be available to help students working on any writing project, in any stage of the writing process. No appointments are necessary, as consultations are on a drop-in basis.

History of the Satellite Centers

In the fall of 2004, the Undergraduate Teaching Assistants (UTAs) began a research project to identify if students would be interested in using the Writing Lab tutorial services at a different location and time.

The UTAs found through their survey of English 106 students that the Meredith Hall location would be most preferable. After receiving the permission and support from the Meredith Hall staff, the UTAs were able to open the satellite center in January of 2005.

The Meredith Hall satellite location continues to operate each fall and spring semester; however, consultations are no longer limited to assignments in English 106 or 108. Any student working on any writing project is invited to visit this location for drop-in assistance.

Recently, the Writing Lab added the Hicks UGRL location to our facilities offering writing consultations to better serve students' needs.
