Where are the OWL handouts?
Now that you've come to the new Writing Lab site, you're probably asking yourself, "What happened to all of the OWL handouts? I don't see them listed anywhere!" The short answer is, go to http://owl.english.purdue.edu/ and you'll find the links to the original OWL site pages.
What you must keep in mind is that we're not only redesigning but reorganizing what we're now calling the "Purdue OWL Family of Sites." This new site for the Writing Lab, available at http://owl.english.purdue.edu/writinglab, contains only information about the physical Writing Lab located in Heavilon 226 on the Purdue University Campus, West Lafayette, IN. When the new OWL site becomes available online, you will see a distinct visual and organizational style for OWL, the Writing Lab site, and the Writing Lab Newsletter site.
One of the problems with our old site is that it doesn't make clear distinctions between the Writing Lab and the Online Writing Lab. By separating these areas and emphasizing their differences, we're hoping to ease any confusion experienced by our users. Every week, the OWL Technical staff receives questions from people living in distant countries who would like to participate in something like our ESL Conversation Groups or our In-Lab Workshops. Unfortunately, those are services that are available only in on the Purdue West Lafayette campus. Our new, reorganized "Purdue OWL Family of Sites" should help to clarify that.
