The Writing Lab will be hiring a new OWL Coordinator during February of 2006. The position is a .25 (quarter-time) 12-month TAship, open to anyone who is eligible to be a TA at Purdue University, starting no later than June 2007. Candidates should have knowledge of theory and teaching experience in any of the following areas: computers and writing; composition; writing center pedagogy.
The OWL Coordinator works with the OWL Tehnical Coodinator/Webmaster to manage and maintain the OWL at Purdue Family of Sites (http://owl.english.purdue.edu/), a Web site which receives approximately 25,000,000 visitors a year who request nearly 70,000,000 pages of content.
Some of the OWL Coordinator's responsibilities include:
- overseeing advertising and working with staff to develop marketing materials for the Writing Lab and OWL
- recruiting and supervising the progress of people developing or revising materials for the OWL Website
- learning the technologies that drive the OWL Website
- assisting in the development of educational technology goals, pedagogy, and resources for OWL and the Writing Lab
The OWL Coordinator should have knowledge of or a demonstrated interest to learn the following technologies:
- Microsoft Word
- Adobe InDesign
- Adobe PhotoShop
- Macromedia Suite
- XHTML
