Purdue Writing Lab Open During Finals Week
For the first time, the Purdue Writing Lab is offering tutoring hours during finals week to students on the Purdue-West Lafayette campus. Tutoring will be available during the following days of finals week in Heavilon Hall 226:
Monday, December 13: 9:00am - 6:00pm
Tuesday, December 14: 9:00am - 6:00pm
Wednesday, December 15: 9:00am - 6:00pm
To make an appointment, call 765-494-3723. Bring your Purdue Student ID with you to your appointment.
The Writing Lab's Heavilon Hall location is closed for winter break beginning Thursday, December 16. Normal tutoring hours will resume during the week of January 10, 2011. Evening hours at the satellite locations in Hicks and Meredith Hall will close during finals week and will reopen in January 2011. Conversation groups for ESL students will resume the second week of the spring semester, Tuesday, January 18, 2011 (the Writing Lab is closed Monday, January 17, 2011 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day).

Purdue Writing Lab Poster Session for Undergraduate Tutoring Practicums
The Purdue Writing Lab's two undergraduate tutoring practicum courses, English 390A and 390B, will be holding a poster session on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 from 11:30am to 12:20pm in Heavilon Hall 227. Students in these courses are preparing to work as peer tutors for first year composition and professional writing, respectively. Students will be presenting their final projects about writing center theory and practice in these contexts at the session. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome to attend.
Purdue Writing Lab Brown Bag
If you are a Purdue English 106 or 108 instructor on the West Lafayette campus, please join us for the final brown bag in the Purdue Writing Lab's Fall 2010 Brown Bag Series Wednesday, December 8 from 12:30pm-1:20pm in the Writing Lab, Heavilon Hall 226. The final brown bag will discuss new syllabus approaches offered in Purdue's ICaP program.

The Alumni Annotations is a PDF publication started in 2006 for alumni of the Purdue Writing Lab, including tutors, staff, and OWL developers. It is published three times a year in spring, summer, and fall.

New Purdue OWL Resources
Purdue OWL Content Developers and the Purdue OWL Coordinator are happy to announce three new resources to the OWL: Chicago Manual of Style 16th edition (CMS), the Interactive Résumé, and new teacher resources on preventing plagiarism.
Content Developer Jessica Clements revised the OWL's CMS resources to reflect the changes in the 16th edition. The CMS resources can be found here: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/717/01/
Content Developer Alexandra Layne created the Interactive Résumé found here: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/927/05/ This PDF resource invites users to click on different sections of a sample résumé to learn more about what to include in a résumé.
Content Developers Cristyn Elder and Ehren Pflugfelder have developed a new and much-anticipated section under Teaching and Tutoring Resources on how to prevent plagiarism. This section contain resources that provide instructors with lesson plans and handouts on contextualizing and avoiding plagiarism.
