Summary:

The Purdue libraries developed this series of tutorials to help students become better finders and users of information in general, and scientific information in particular. While these tutorials use biology examples, like the PubMed and Web of Science databases, they are useful for students in other science classes. These tutorials are .swf files, and we assume that you have the free Flash™ Player software (v. 8 or higher) installed on your computer.

Database Research Tutorials from the Purdue Library

The Purdue OWL is happy to provide this link to the Tutorials for Biology Students Searching the Scientific Literature. If you have any questions regarding these tutorials, please contact Maribeth Slebodnik, Biomedical Sciences Information Specialist and Assistant Professor of Library Science with the Purdue Libraries.

While these tutorials focus on searching biology databases, they also provide valuable research information for instructors and students in any discipline.
