What's Happening at the Writing Lab

This page will let you know about events happening in the Purdue University Writing Lab. Bookmark this page so that you can keep current with what's going on in the Lab. We also announce happenings and events in the Purdue OWL News, our weekly email newsletter. If you want to know what's changed on the website, we have a what's new on OWL page.

If you'd like to know about the services we provide all the time, such as tutorials, handouts, computer access, and other resources, please visit our Writing Lab services page. If you'd like to download flyers and brochures for your classes or your staff, please visit our promotional materials page, which has many different flyers and materials describing our services.


In-Lab Workshops

The In-Lab Workshop Series is designed to provide Purdue students with an opportunity to learn about a variety of writing-related topics, including information about basic writing skills, research papers, business writing documents, and the use of our OWL (Online Writing Lab). All workshops are free, and located in the Writing Lab (Heavilon 226). Each workshop will be limited to a capacity of 25 students. Our summer schedule follows. In-Lab Workshops are also listed on our calendar of events.

Maymester
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00-11:00 a.m.

  • Week 1: Sentence Clarity and Combining (Thursday)
  • Week 2: Literary Analysis (Tuesday)
    APA Documentation (Thursday)
  • Week 3: Writing for an American Academic Audience (Tuesday)
    Research & the Internet (Thursday)
  • Week 4: MLA Documentation
    Proofreading for ESL Students (Thursday)

Summer Session
Tuesdays, 10:00-11:00 a.m.

  • Week 2: Resumes & Cover Letters
  • Week 3: MLA Documentation
  • Week 4: APA Documentation
  • Week 5: PowerPoint Presentations
