Writing Lab Administration

Linda S. Bergmann, Director

Linda Bergmann, Associate Professor of English, joined the Writing Lab staff in 2001. Before coming to Purdue, she started peer tutoring programs at Hiram College and the Illinois Institute of Technology and founded the Center for Writing Technologies at the University of Missouri-Rolla.

Tammy Conard-Salvo, Assistant Director

Ms. Salvo is the latest addition to the Writing Lab staff (and she's so new that we don't have a picture of her yet!). She has a master's degree from Texas Tech University, and has worked as a Learning Specialist at Wheelock College, where she also coordinated the Peer Tutoring Program.

Muriel Harris, Writing Lab Founder and Director Emerita

Back in 1976, when the Lab started, Muriel Harris was there to open the door and has been working tirelessly to help students and teachers ever since. Now retired, the Lab still benefits from her expertise, and she continues to edit the Writing Lab Newsletter.

Hsiao-Ming Tong, Office Manager

At the front desk you'll find Hsiao-Ming Tong and her staff of dedicated assistants eagerly waiting to welcome you.

Mary Jo Turley, Assistant Editor, Writing Lab Newsletter

Mary Jo Turley's job title is Writing Lab assistant and Writing Lab Newsletter assistant editor, but she thinks she's supposed to solve all our problems and see that there are always doughnuts next to the coffee pot. We don't intend to tell her otherwise. You can call her with your problems at 765-494-7268 or e-mail her at her account.
