This brief tour will introduce you to the Online Writing Lab (OWL):how to navigate
the site and what materials and services we offer to students, teachers, businesspersons,
and others from around the globe.
Our OWL is a cyberextension of the Purdue University Writing Lab, under the direction of Muriel (Mickey) Harris. The OWL site contains over 500 pages of handouts, tutorials, and workshops and hundreds of links to other writing resources across the World Wide Web. Currently, our web-based resources average approximately 6,000,000 "hits" a year from users around the world. We also have widely used e-mail online tutoring service at this form, and a free weekly email newsletter called the Purdue OWL News. Since 1993, dedicated OWL staff members have contributed to the content and design of the site. We are proud of our site, and we hope that you find it a useful service.
This tour will provide you with a cross-section of the resources available on our OWL. Feel free to sail off at any point on the tour to explore a resource of particular interest to you.
