Welcome to the Purdue OWL News! This is an online newsletter about happenings in the Purdue University Writing Lab and the Purdue University Online Writing Lab (OWL). Wešre always glad to hear from you at owlnews@owl.english.purdue.edu! In this newsletter, wešre including some questions from some of our readers for you to answer. Wešll publish your answers and suggestions in next weekšs newsletter!
Herešs our grammar question of the week, brought to you by the Online Writing Lab Tutors here at Purdue. You can send mail to the online tutors at this form.
1.I want to express that somebody always receive many kinds of information (about the society or people's life) from his/her young age time to old age time by using (reading newspapers or radio continuously) some medias. Then, can I say "she/he keeps (is) informative forever by reading newspaper continuously."?
2. can you indicate the grammar-written mistakes in my letter to you? Especially, I am not sure if the 'young/old age time' and 'Using the medias' were used rightly?
Herešs the answer.
I think it might be better to say "from youth to old age" instead of "young age time to old age time." Also, "media" is the plural of "medium" - it's a Latin word. So "medias" is incorrect.
Instead of saying "keeps informative," I might say "remains informed" And "continuously" is a little too strong. That means that someone would constantly be reading the newspaper 24 hours a day. It might be better to say "regularly" instead of "continuously."
So, a corrected version of the first paragraph might say: I want to express that somebody always receives many kinds of information (about society or people's life) from youth to old age by using (reading newspapers or listening to the radio regularly) some media.. Then, can I say "she/he remains informed forever by reading the newspaper regularly."?

Are you looking for a job or an internship? Whether itšs your first position or your tenth, itšs important to be able to tailor your resume to what an employer is looking for. If youšre from another country and looking for a job in the United States, itšs important to understand the differences between what US employers look for in a resume and what people in your country look for.
We have an entire section of handouts in our professional writing section devoted to learning all about how to construct a resume that will get you the position you want. The handouts include advice on how to gather information for your resume, samples of traditional and scannable resumes, and lists of action words to use in your resume. You can view all of these handouts as well as related professional writing documents at http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/pw/
