Welcome to the Purdue OWL News! This is an online newsletter about happenings in the Purdue University Writing Lab and the Purdue University Online Writing Lab (OWL).

Welcome to the Purdue OWL News! This is an online newsletter about happenings in the Purdue University Writing Lab and the Purdue University Online Writing Lab (OWL). While we recognize that most of you can't visit our lab in person, we'd still like to tell everyone about what's going on in our physical writing lab and our online writing lab, because we see them as a team effort for helping people with their writing. We welcome your suggestions and feedback at owlnews@owl.english.purdue.edu.

The Resume Workshop is an extensive workshop that guides you through the development of each section of your resume and provides you with strategies for overall design, purpose, and audience analysis. It's available online at http://owl.english.purdue.edu/workshops/hypertext/ResumeW/index.html

The Research Paper Workshop takes you through the stages of developing a research paper: invention, theses, sources, drafting, revising, and editing. It also includes an excellent set of online resources to aid your research. It's available online at http://owl.english.purdue.edu/workshops/hypertext/ResearchW/index.html

The Searching the Net workshop discusses how to use search methods and search engines to improve your online researching skills. Three brief interactive tutorials about catalogues, search engines and metasearch engines are included in this workshop. It's available online at http://owl.english.purdue.edu/internet/search/index.html

We've updated our mega-index for all of our handouts so that it reflects the complete contents of our entire handouts directory. You can browse all our handouts at http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/index2.html.

As always, you can keep up with what's new on OWL by visiting our "What's New" page at http://owl.english.purdue.edu/whatsnew.html.

What's Happening In The Writing Lab

OWL Eye on ... The Writing Lab Newsletter

Since 1977, the Purdue Writing Lab has produced the Writing Lab Newsletter, a monthly newsletter for exchanging ideas and information about writing centers in colleges, universities, and high schools. The newsletter, which contains articles, conference announcements, book reviews, professional news, and a column by and for tutors. is published monthly from September to June.

If you work in a writing center or do any kind of tutoring work, the newsletter offers a helpful resource and opportunities to network with your colleagues. It also publishes articles, book reviews, and columns from interested individuals all over the world, so perhaps your work or your event could be in our next issue!

If you'd like to learn more about the newsletter, including how to submit articles and how to subscribe, you can visit the Writing Lab Newsletter web page at http://owl.english.purdue.edu/lab/newsletter/index.html

Right now, we're working on getting all of our back issues into an electronic format so that they'll be available online. However, you can currently search the Newsletter archives online at http://owl2.english.purdue.edu:591/ and then correlate them with print copies.

What's Happening On OWL

OWL Eye On... Hypertext Workshops
On OWL, we have hypertext workshops that will walk you through various writing and research tasks, showing each step in the writing process. They offer a more "interactive" experience than our handouts, as well as offering links to other helpful resources. You can choose how to move through the workshops; begin at the beginning or start at any point.
What's New on OWL

Under Construction

This week we continue to work on checking and updating links on OWL.. If you know of any good writing-related sites, please mail them to link@owl.english.purdue.edu so we can include them in our Internet resources category.

New and Improved

We're currently working on revising and updating our American Psychological Association (APA) handout to make it more consistent, clear, and correct with current APA guidelines. Our business writing tutors are developing more handouts related to writing in the job search.
