Using Catalogues/Indexes

Catalogues, which also are called indexes, list websites by category.  Each category has subcategories that help you locate sites related to your topic.  Often catalogues include a search utility for searching the categorized sites;  the search tool usually does not search other web sites not indexed in the categories, though.

Many search engines and meta search engines include catalogues as part of their larger site.
